It is a document process, not an interview process
Most of the effort in an Uruguayan residency file happens before you ever speak to an official: obtaining civil documents from your home country, authenticating them, and translating them.
That is why our roadmap front-loads documents. The parts that depend on other countries are the parts you cannot rush later.
What determines your pathway
Your nationality, your reason for moving, your family situation and your source of income all influence which route applies and what evidence is expected.
We deliberately do not publish a list of categories and thresholds, because those change and are the exact thing you should read from the official source.
What to confirm officially
The current checklist, the accepted validity window for each document, official fees, and where to submit. All four are marked 'verification required' in your roadmap until confirmed.
